Series 4200 Transparent Colors

Auto Air Transparent Colors are transparent with a semi-gloss finish. Use over lighter shades, mix with other colors, or layer over other colors. Transparent Colors are a versatile part of the Auto Air Colors product line and can be used for a variety of effects such as: Mix with other Auto Air Colors series for custom blends. Mixing Transparent Colors with 4100 Series Aluminum Bases creates custom metallic colors. For awesome
candied metal-flake finishes, mix Transparent Colors directly with 4500 Series Hot Rod Sparkle Series. Transparent Colors also create a candied appearance when applied over 4100 and 4300 Series Auto Air Colors. Semi-Opaque Colors can be tinted with Transparent Colors for custom blends by either directly mixing the colors or layering light coats of Transparent Colors over the Semi-Opaque Colors. Transparent Colors work well when applied in light coats over 4300 or 4500 Series Colors. Apply 1-2 light coats of Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark, 1-2 coats 4300 or 4500 Series Colors followed by 2-5 light coats of Auto Air Transparent Colors. Applying Transparent Colors over these series creates custom blends. Recommended for use with airbrush sizes 0.3mm or larger. A 0.2mm size airbrush may be used when colors are thinned with Auto Air Reducer.

Series 4200 Semi-Opaque Colors

Auto Air Semi-Opaque Colors are base coat colors which can be used alone and cleared or used as a base coat for 4300, 4400, 4500 Series to achieve special color effects. Other uses include:
Tint with Transparent Colors for custom blends by either directly mixing the colors or layering light coats of Transparent Colors over Semi-Opaque Colors.
Use as the underlying coat for other Auto Air Colors. Semi-Opaque Deep Black may be used as a substitute for Base Coat Sealer Dark when being used as a dark undercoat for 4100, 4300, 4400, 4500 Series Auto Air Colors. Recommended for use with airbrush sizes 0.5mm or larger. A 0.3mm size airbrush may be used when colors are thinned with Auto Air Reducer.

Series 4200 Fluorescent Colors

Auto Air Fluorescent Colors are transparent neons with a semi-gloss finish. Use over Base Coat Sealer White or a light background Semi-Opaque or Transparent Color for dramatic neon effects. Recommended for use with Airbrush sizes 0.5 or larger. A 0.3mm size may be used when colors are thinned with Auto Air Reducer. Please Note: Fluorescent Colors have a limited light fast in the sun.

Series 4400 Hi-Lite Interference Colors

Hi-Lite Interference Colors are used over any background color for ghostlike, color-highlighting effects. Hi-Lite Interference Colors are intended for use in very light layers of 1-3 coats. Their color-shifting effect is less pronounced than the Gem Chameleon Colors. The colors work well for subtle highlighting effects which are seen when exposed to sunlight or a direct light source. Colors may be directly mixed with 4200 Series Transparent Colors for custom blends that have subtle color-shifting effects. Building colors too heavy will cause them to lose their effect and become a milky, pastel color. Recommended for use with airbrush sizes 0.5mm or larger. A 0.3mm size airbrush may be used when colors are thinned with Auto Air Reducer. Hi-Lite Interference are best used over darker colors, i.e. 4200 Series Deep Black or Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark.

Series 4300 Pearlized Colors

Pearlized Colors may be used alone for fantastic pearlescent finishes, or use as follows: Mix with 4200 Series Transparent Graphic Colors for custom pearlescent blends. Use as a base coat for the 4600 Series Candy Colors. For custom pearlescent blends, or candied type effects apply 2-6 light coats of 4200 Series Transparent Colors over Series 4300 Pearlized Colors. Recommended for use with airbrush sizes 0.5mm or larger. A 0.3mm size airbrush may be used when colors are thinned with Auto Air Reducer.

Series 4300 Metallic Colors

Auto Air Metallic Colors may be used alone for a metal-like appearance or use as follows: Metallic Colors are best used over Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark or 4200 Series Deep Black Graphic Colors. Use as a base for 4200 Series Transparent Graphic Colors for custom metallic blends, or as base for the 4600 Series Candy Colors. For custom metallic blends, apply 2-6 light coats of 4200 Series Transparent Colors over Metallic Colors. Metallic Colors’ pigments are heavy and may require vigorous shaking, bottles may be left upside down for a few minutes before shaking to release mixing ball located inside each bottle. Recommended for use with airbrush sizes 0.5mm or larger. A 0.3mm size airbrush may be used when colors are thinned with Auto Air Reducer.

Series 4300 Iridescent Colors

Auto Air Iridescent Colors may be used alone for a subtle iridescent effect with some color shift as light is reflected or use as follows: Use as a base for 4200 Series Transparent Graphic Colors for custom blends. Uses a base for the 4600 Series Candy Colors. For custom iridescent blends, apply 2-6 light coats of 4200 Series Transparent Colors over Iridescent Colors. Recommended for use with airbrush sizes 0.5mm or larger. A 0.3mm size airbrush may be used when colors are thinned with Auto Air Reducer.

Series 4400 Gem Chameleon Colors

Gem Chameleon Colors are specialty effect pigmented colors with angle-dependent, color traveling effects. Gem Chameleon Colors have dramatic color changes depending upon the angle of light. Gem Chameleon Colors are best used against Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark and 4200 Series Deep Black Graphic Colors. Apply 1-2 light coats of Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark and 2-4 coats of Gem Chameleon Colors. Recommended for use with airbrush sizes 0.5mm or larger. Reducing Gem Chameleon Colors is not recommended. If they must be thinned, add Reducer in small increments to avoid washing out pigment concentration.

Series 4400 Chameleon Flair Colors

Chameleon Flair Colors are specialty effect pigment colors with angle-dependent, color traveling effects. Chameleon Flair Colors have a soft flowing transition from one color into another. Color travel is viewable under even subtle lighting and is further intensified on curved objects with sharp contours. Best when used against Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark or 4200 Series Deep Black Graphic Colors. Apply 1-2 light coats of Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark and 2-4 coats of Chameleon Flair Colors. Chameleon Flair Tint Bronze and Violet are tinting bases containing only the chameleon pigment and binder. Each is intended for application against a black background to enhance their effects. Each may also be tinted with other colors to create custom chameleon blends by simply mixing with Series 4200 Transparent Colors. Best effects are achieved when tinted with blue and green shades. Chameleon Flair Tint Bronze travels from red to gold to bronze and then into green. Chameleon Flair Tint Violet travels from Lilac to Silver to Blue and then into Green. For more effects, apply Chameleon Flair Colors over 4100 Series Aluminum Bases. Recommended for use with airbrush sizes 0.5mm or larger. Reducing Chameleon Flair Colors is not recommended. If they must be thinned, add Auto Air Reducer in small increments to avoid washing out pigment concentration.

Series 4500 Sparklescent Colors

Cosmic Sparkle Colors create a refined, star-like subtle shimmer effect. Cosmic Sparkle Colors have a more narrow size particle effect pigment then the Hot Rod Sparkle Colors. Cosmic Sparkle Colors are semi-translucent colors with a semi-gloss finish. Cosmic Sparkle Colors are best used over Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark or Auto Air 4200 Series Deep Black Graphic Colors

Series 4500 Cosmic Sparkle Colors

Cosmic Sparkle Colors are semi-translucent colors with a semi-gloss finish. Cosmic Sparkle Colors are best used over Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark or Auto Air 4200 Series Deep Black Graphic Colors Apply 1-2 light coats of Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark and 2-4 coats of Cosmic Sparkle Colors. A 0.3mm size airbrush may be used when colors are thinned with Auto Air Reducer.

Series 4500 Hot Rod Sparkle Colors

Hot Rod Sparkle Colors recreate the popular “retro” feel of automobiles of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Hot Rod Sparkle Colors create a brilliant, powerful glitter-like effect that truly shimmers. Colors are best used over Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark or Auto Air 4200 Series Deep Black Graphic Colors Apply 1-2 light coats of Auto Air Base Coat Sealer Dark and 2-4 light coats of Hot Rod Sparkle Colors. For candied metal-flake finishes, mix Hot Rod Sparkle Color directly with 4600 Series Candy Colors or 4200 Series Transparent Colors. For custom blends, apply 2-6 light coats of Auto Air 4200 Series Transparent Colors over Hot Rod Sparkle Colors. Hot Rod Sparkle Colors may also be mixed directly with each other for multicolor effects. Recommended for use with airbrush sizes 0.5mm or larger. A 0.3mm size airbrush may be used when colors are thinned with Auto Air Reducer.

Series 4600 Candy Colors

Although the Candy Colors are used as a base coat color, they are dye-based and special considerations need to be made when using them as opposed to the regular base coat paints. Candy Colors will have a tact-like feel even after they have cured. The Candy Colors are sensitive and cannot be directly masked on. Candy Colors need to be thoroughly cured then cleared before graphics can be taped or masked. If a paint job done with Candy Colors is to be left alone for a prolonged period prior to clear coating, a coat of clear should be applied to protect the colors from picking up dust and dirt. As the Candy Colors are sensitive and prone to blemishes when touched, a coat of clear will prevent any markings that could occur when attempting to clean. Candy Colors are concentrated. Add Transparent Extender (the base of the Candy Colors) direct to Candy Colors when spraying large areas to prevent unwanted color build-up. It is imperative to completely cure the Candy Colors. This may take several hours if drying in open air conditions.

Series 4100 Aluminum Bases

Aluminum Bases are available in three grades: Fine, Medium and Coarse. They are highly reflective and intended for use as an undercoat for the 4600 Series Candy Colors. Aluminum Bases may also be used alone for an aluminum-like, reflective finish or as an undercoat for Series 4200 Transparent Colors for reflective, custom effects. Use of the different grades against one another with a Candy Color top application create fantastic effects. Aluminum Bases are recommended for use with airbrush sizes 0.5mm or larger. A 0.3mm size airbrush may be used when thinned with Auto Air Reducer. Aluminum Bases cover quickly and often only 1 coat is needed. Apply Aluminum Base over a coat of Base Coat Sealer Dark to ensure the that they adhere properly to the surface. The 4000 Series Base Coat Sealers have better adhesion than the 4100 Series Aluminum Bases. Aluminum Bases are made with heavy metallic flakes and may require stirring in addition to thorough shaking prior to use.
